How to make DOS bootable CD for WinXP to update BIOS?

G

Guest

I have a laptop computer running WinXP. It has no floppy drive. I need to
create a bootable so that I can write the BIOS flashing files onto it and
then flash the BIOS.

Can anyone help direct me?

Thanks

Every bios updating program I have ever seen, with the exception of those
that work from within Windows, use a floppy. The bios is NOT set up to
access a CD (drivers etc.).

Please contact the manuafacturer/vendor of your computer. Flashing the BIOS is dependent on
the manufacturer.

Curious. The manufacturer sent an email to the distributor who told me
to make a boot CD (there is no floppy on the computer, which the
manufacturer should have known...!) I am lost. I guess I will ask the
distributor to make a boot CD and send it to me...

Depending on the BIOS, there are bios "flashers" that run from windows. I
have never used one, since the floppy based flasher is more reliable, and my
systems have floppies.

The Mrgr. probably doesn't know if you machine has a floppy or not.
I'd try going to a computer store and asking nicely (and offering to
pay) them to hook up a floppy temporarily.
