How to maintain attachment's read-only attribute?

I tried to email out a read-only Excel database file but then found out the
read-only attibute was somehow disabled when the file was received.

How to maintain the read-only attibute? Thx.
 
you can't - if they open it from the reading pane, it will be read only
though. You would need to lock the cells if you didn't want them editing it.
