When I attach a Word or Excel document in Outlook the file is attached as a
read only file. The file is not in Word or Excel as read only. Any idea how
to get Outlook not to attach the files as read only?

What if the recipient saves the file from Outlook to their local hard drive
(instead of opening it from within Outlook)?

They have to save the file under a different name. We don't want to rename
the files.

They should be able to save to the same name, just in a new location (like
My Documents or Desktop if it's just temporary). What if you actually
double-click the e-mail item to open it and open the attachment from there?

If you double click on the file to open it it opens as a read only file.

No, double-click the e-mail item to open the e-mail item first. Then
double-click the file from there to open that.

I did that and it worked on my computer but I tried it on the other girls
computer and it opened it in read only. That was strange being that we are
running the same systems. Any ideas?
