How do you know which codecs are missing if there's no error message ?
There is no video (only audio) on .mov (quicktime) files which are
embedded in Acrobat Reader documents.

Are you saying the QuickTime player won't play the .mov files?

Yes, exactly. It'll play the audio but not the video.
However, it's a little more complicated because I can play audio And
video of other quicktime files that I tried & tested by going to the
apple site and playing their movie trailers.
Also, these .mov that I'm having trouble with are embedded in PDF file
as a media link.
Even if I bypass the pdf link and go directly to the media folder and
try and play them directly the same problem persists.

I have a university course on a dvd. They are PDF 's with media links
within the document. The requirements are to have Adobe reader,
Quicktime, flash, IE (I have the latest of all as well as another
browser Firefox). I've checked if the display adapter needs an updated
driver. Set all the preferences for QT and Adobe reader, tried a few
more codecs all to no avaiil

Is it possible that there is no associated video with them and that they are
primarily audio? - eg podcasts or something similar or with perhaps just the
odd static frame appearing later.

Sorry for jumping into a perfectly good conversation, but maybe the files
are corrupted, or have suffered during download. Try re-downloading them if
possible.

No, because I can play the video & audio when I insert the dvd into a
machine running XP

Eric, I 've tried playing it from the dvd and by copying the files
over to my hd
