How to keep messages moved to folders from returning to the Inbox

Often times when I delete a message from the Inbox in Outlook 2000 or move it
to a folder and then close Outlook, the next time I open Outlook the message
or messages are back in the Inbox and are no longer in the folder I moved
them to. Sometimes this happens 3 or 4 times before they stop coming back.
Also in the Calendar I will get a reminder notice and delete it, but they I
keep getting it. Note that I do not empty my Deleted folder when exiting
Outlook.

Regarding the reminders. Run switch to clean reminders Start - Run - type Outlook.exe /clean reminders.

As for the incoming messages. Your ISP may be sending you the message multlipe times. This can happen if you have a poor network connection and the last "synch" did not complete. The ISP (if you are not on Exchange server) will try to send it again until it shows the proces has been done. I had this issue and opted to not leave messages on the server. Once I resolved the underlining network issue, my problem was resolved.

Other possibility is that rule is setup to move the items. But it does not sound like that is likely.
