how to install windows 2000 on my existing win xp pc

Hi ,
I need help and documentation on how to install windows
2000 on my pc which currently has windows xp. I want to
have both os in my pc.This is the first time i am trying
to do this. What are the precautions I need to take
before I start installing windows 2000.

- Save the hidden files c:\ntldr & c:\ntdetect.com in a suitable folder.
- Install Win2000, preferably on its own partition but certainly not
in c:\Windows.
- Launch Windows 2000
- Restore the saved files.
