I have windows powertoys (tweakui) installed alongwith setup on
my xpsp2.

but, yesterday I accessed a friend's pc having xp, and when I
tried to teach him how to auto logon, how to make menus fasters,
how to remove things from desktop, etc., I could not find
powertoys (tweakui) on his start menu, nor in his control panel.

Could someone please guide me how to get it installed?

Using a "search" engine off the web, enter "Powertoys for XP" and then click
on the links.

BTW: You are on your own since Powertoys is officially an "unsupported"
Microsoft product. Place make sure you have a registry backup since Microsoft
will not help you to re-set up XP if you incorrectly use Powertoys (ie:
damage it.)

If you already installed it and are looking for the .exe try
windows\system32\tweakui.exe. Right-click on it and create a shortcut on the
desktop (or wherever). Or use search to find it. If you want to install it,
download it, note where you put the download, then go to that location to
install it.

Hello,

You can download and install Windows XP powertoys separately.
They are not installed by default.

In my box, these got installed every time alongwith xp install.
I didn't install them separately.

In any case, xp install is almost a single-click process and
doesn't ask much options.

Does it mean that it is already hidden somewhere in xp setup cd?

Hello,

It sounds from your experience that you might have a sysprep/automated install image of Windows XP
that you might be installing everytime. The Alt-tab powertoy might have been pre-installed in this
image. Also, since you mention that you are not prompted for too many questions by the Windows XP
setup program, it further makes me belive that you might have a customised install.

If you believe that you should not have a custom setup for Winodws XP, you might have a pirated
copy of Windows XP. More information here:

In any case, none of the Windows XP powertoys are 'hidden' in a standard Windows XP setup disk. YOu
have to download and install them separately and they are not supported by Microsoft in any form or
fashion.
