How to identify bit version of Windows Vista

R

Ron

I have a friend who has just purchased a brand new laptop with Vista on
board, but she's a fairly inexperienced user. She needs to install a
critical update for her new HP C5180 printer, but HP has one critical
update for the 64 bit version, and a different update for the 32 bit
version.

She doesn't know how to find out her bit version of Vista, and I don't
have that much experience with Vista either, plus I haven't had direct
access to the PC yet to try to find version information.

How do we find out the bit version of Vista installed on this particular
laptop? I suspect it is probably a 32 bit version of Vista, but I need
to be absolutely sure before supplying her information as to exactly
which critical update she should install from HP's support website.

Go to Start > Welcome Center > View Computer Details >
System Type

It's highly likely the HP laptop is a 32-bit version of Vista.

Control Panel ... System - it is clearly stated there.
