How to I switch to working online in Microsoft Office outlook(200

Email messages are not received in my inbox unless I drop down and click on
"send/receive" from "Tools" on the inbox tool bar. I have an icon on the
bottom right hand corner of my screen that says "Microsoft Outlook is
offline" when I have my email inbox open. I've been using Microsoft Office
2003 for at least a year and have only had this 'offline' challenge for the
last month or so.
Please advise on how to reset to work online. Thanks!
 
Click on that same button or use File-> Work Offline to deselect it.

I am not able to click, double click, or right click the offline icon in the
lower right hand corner. any other options to connect outlook or make it
online?
