How to go through a router.

my work pc's are on a dsl lan, running off of a router

i am unable to connect to it from home, i am unable to connect either one
 
Are you trying to connect using RDP? If so the router needs to pass TCP 3389
traffic
Are you trying to connect using PPTP? If so the router needs to pass TCP
1723 and IP Protocol 47 (GRE) traffic.
