Hi All:

I just converted NT PDC 4.0 to WIN2k Sp4 server in mixed mode. It was later
joined bytwo addtional servers both WIN2k and both were promo ted to be
domain controllers via DCpromo. These to additional servers did not give me
the choice between Mixed and native mode. How do I go native. I do not
recall doing anything about a Forest. Would I have to do that.time.

You can always convert from native mode to mixed mode but
never from mixed mode to native mode.

You switch to native mode by right clicking the domain name
in AD users and computers, select properties and there's a
button to change mode.
It's a one off conversion, there's no going back.
It's done at the AD level and is nothing to do with
individual servers.

I think that you might have it backwards.

If you are in Mixed Mode you can change to Native Mode but
that "move" is a one-shot deal.

Hi Steve:

I thank you for answering my question. Should I go to native mode. If it is
not neccessary I rather wait. I am going to install exchange 2k on one of
the machines and move mail boxes from Exchange 5.5 which is on one of the
upgraded machines. Please shed some light on native versus Mixed if you can.

Thank you

Jamal
