Actually both,if the computer is a few years old,it might be capable, usb
2.0 is included in xp SP1,open device mgr,usb controller,R.click,update
drivers.Even though its included its not always automatic, also,if youre
brd is intel based,go to intel, downloads, chip set software, download the
chipset installation utility.
Please outline the method for what you are suggesting.. I somehow doubt that
you have ever gotten USB to convert from 1.1 to 2.0 using your method,
regardless of whatever service pack is installed..
Hardware followed by software support.
If you don't have the hardware, then the software does not matter.
First - break out your computer manual and make sure you have spare
expansion slots (PCI would be good.)
Go to your local computer store (chain or otherwise) and look for a USB 2.0
card, go ahead and see if they have a Firewire/USB 2.0 card.. Kill two birds
with one stone.
Purchase, bring it home, install..
