How to get to an older saved version of a document

WordPad crashed last time I closed it and it lost hours of my work (BTW, I'm
using an Everex laptop running on Vista -- AVOID!). How can I get to and
open an older saved version? Even if I can recover the work that I had saved
yesterday it would be great! Thanks!

Do you have Vista Business or Ultimate? If yes, then go to the Backup
and Restore Center and you will see the Previous Versions section. If
you have Vista Home Basic or Home Premium, this option is not available
and unless you saved an older version under another name or on removal
media, the data is lost.

You might be able to get it back with data recovery software, although I
would not be overly hopeful. I do data recovery as part of my
professional life and normally you would get back only the latest
version of a file. In your case, that wouldn't be what you want.
However, it will not hurt to at least try one of the free or trial data
recovery programs.

You posted to a thread that is really old. The only reason I'm bothering
to reply is to let you know that uninstalling/reinstalling MS Office
will do nothing to retrieve the OP's lost documents. This was a data
recovery issue.
