Recovering a file's older version

I saved a file using an existiong file name in error; Is there a way to
recover the orginal data?

There are two files: "2006" and "2007". I was working on the "2006" file; I
saved as "2007". How can I recover the older "2007"?

From your backup. Excel gave you a message saying your were going to replace
the existing file and asking if you wanted to do this . You apparently
answered "Yes".

Acutally Windows gave you the message, but the effect is the same. Backing
up files is a good thing.
