How to get rid of email popups?

I have Outlook 2003 installed on my XP machine, and every time a new email
arrives, a small popup appears on my screen showing the email's subject and
the first line or so of the message. This appears over any other application
I'm running and graciously fades away in a few seconds. Nonetheless, it is
very annoying because it shows every piece of spam that arrives. Can anyone
help me get rid of this popup feature?
Thanks,
Hal

Enable your spam-filter or set it on a higher level? ;-)

You can control the Desktop Alert in Tools-> Options-> tab General-> button
E-mail Options...=> button Advanced E-mail Options...
