how to get ready for sp2

We're gearing up for the XPe SP2 release and were wondering where the SP2
update would be released. Will it be available via the public downloads
site, distributor, or the secure oem embedded website? I seem to recall
reading somewhere that SP2 would be released via the secure oem website
https://microsoft.embeddedoem.com/

If it will only be available at microsoft.embeddedoem.com, what do I need in
order to sign up? I've read the info below from the microsoft xp embedded
downloads homepage but am unsure as to if a runtime license or OEM agreement
is needed to register at the embeddedoem.com website. We currently have the
license for the toolkit.

" If you have purchased runtime licenses from a Microsoft Windows Embedded
Authorized Distributor, or have signed an OEM Customer License Agreement with
Microsoft directly, then please visit the restricted access OEM Embedded site
to download the latest security updates for Windows XP Embedded. "

Will moving from the SP2 Tech Preview to the full version be like moving
from SP1 evaluation to full versions? (Remove evaluation tools and
database, reinstall full tools and database using new product key ) Just
want to know so we can have all our custom built components ready.

Thanks

Hi F Wang,

These were some papers that you had to sign prior to XPe purchase, one hard copy left in your company. Find it and on top of it (I
think) is written some number of your agreement. I was long time ago but I think that you should use that number.

The OEM Customer License Agreement, as Slobodan mentioned was the document
you signed when you first purchased the toolkit. if you cannot find the
document, contact the distributor you purchased the toolkit from (I.E.
BSQUARE :) ) and they can get it for you. Once you have that number, you
go to https://microsoft.embeddedoem.com, and fill out the info. Once you
have submitted, the site administrator will send you back your login
credentials within a day or so. then you can log in, and get the QFE,
Service Pack, ETC that you need. (please note: if you are to re-distribute
your target image to one of your customers, you MUST obtain all QFE's ETC
from this location, as the EULA is different than that of the public site.
(legal mumbo-jumbo)

As we have been told, the final SP2 will update the same way that the Tech
Preview does. (that is, you will not have to uninstall everything you have)
I imagine, that MS will soon do away with the SP1 toolkits, and ship SP2
toolkits, but in the interim, you can install SP2, and it will update your
component database. (Note: this SP is not for Runtime images, as in Post FBA
on your target device, only for TD/CD ETC)
