How to get mail into Inbox (local)

I have a sideshow device that monitors windows mail. It seems to only
monitor the inbox under "local folders". That box only has the
original "welcome" message but no other messages. How do I get my
messages (from an IMAP server) into the inbox. I can setup rules to
move messages but that only seems to allow transfer to a subfolder of
inbox and not the top level.

thanks
Bruce

We're short om IMAP experts in this newsgroup, so don't expect
much more help other than pointers we can find with a Google search.
