how to get files back from web host

G

Guest

My hard drive crashed and all of my Front Page files were on there...and they
were not backed up (yes, I know). Is there a way to get the files back from
the host server? My web host says they don't back them up, but it seems like
if the files are out there on the web, there should be a way to get them
back. Please help!

If the online web has FrontPage extensions, open the web in FrontPage,
then
File->Publish Site to a folder on your hard disc.

Then back up your files properly ahd find a new host who DOES also back up

I am new to Frontpage and still learning. One book I have been reading
states that one cannot recover all the information by recovering files
from the published on line site. Is this true and if so why?

Only when the live/remote site doesn't have the FP extensions.

If you publish or ftp, it's fine. If you try to import the files, you
cannot recover all of them.

Even if the server doesn't have the extensions you can always FTP the files
back to your computer.
