How to get an image to flash?

Yes, I know - flashing images are annoying, but this is not my call !

I am trying to get an inserted .jpg image to repeatedly flash on and off. I
tried to use the blink command, but I take it this is only for use with text?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Your best option is to create a Animated GIF image using a Animated GIF Editor.

Thanks for your reply.
Excuse my ignorance, but given that I'm only wanting to do a straightforward
thing - could I download the animated gif editor for free from somewhere. If
so, could you point me in the right direction?
