how to format my harddisk?

I want o clear up my D: to reinstall everything...how can
I do the format. I can't get access into my XP operating
system...
 
Install xp cd,boot from cd,recovery,at the curser type:
FORMAT D: /FS:NTFS
D: being the hd,for FAT32 type that instead of ntfs
