How to format background with a picture in "My Collections?"

Re: Clip Art task pane

I have no problem with "make available off-line" and format|background|fill
effects|picture. But I have a problem when the clip art does not have a blue
globe (i.e. not on the www) and I have to use "copy to collection." When I
click on organize clips in the clip art task pane, I can see the picture that
I have copied. But when I do format|background|fill effects|picture I don't
see the picture in the "My Pictures" folder or "anywhere." But, if I did
"make available off-line," I always find the picture in the "My Pictures"
folder and I can select the picture for the background.

So, my question is "how do I find the picture in the clip organizer say my
collections via format|background|fill effects|picture?"

Appreciate advice.

Try opening the clip art task pane and clicking the arrow beside a clip
without the blue globe. Select preview/properties.

In that dialog, there should be a file path listed. For example, I see
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\MEDIA\CAGCAT10\j0149627.wmf for one of my
clips.

You can copy that path and paste it in the File Name box when you go to
Format|Background|FillEffects|Picture|Select Picture, or you can just
navigate to that folder.

Echo,

Thanks very much for the detailed info. Great, it gets the job done. I am
just curious if there is a path to "my collections" which has a more focused
selection of the pictures i.e. the ones I have copied.

Sorry to bother you.

If you hit the link to "clip organizer" at the bottom of the task pane,
you'll see the folder list of your clips. You might check in the "downloaded
clips" folder.

Oh, wait. I see you already know about that.

Maybe you can put a shortcut to the clipart folders in your "my pictures"
folder to make it easy to get to when you use Format|Fill Effects.

It's no bother, Epinn. Not at all! Wish I had a better answer for you. Or
maybe I'm not understanding what you're really asking here?

Echo,

(1) YW: You can copy that path and paste it in the File Name box when you
go to Format|Background|FillEffects|Picture|Select Picture, or you can just
navigate to that folder.

(2) YW: Maybe you can put a shortcut to the clipart folders in your "my
pictures"
folder to make it easy to get to when you use Format|Fill Effects.

These are great suggestions. I like the "copy and paste path" solution and
I have also created a shortcut from "My Pictures" folder to "CAGCAT10"
folder.

My biggest problem was locating "My Collections," "Downloaded Clips" etc.
**outside** clip organizer. I don't think they are folder names like "My
Pictures." When I do format|background ..... select pictures, I can navigate
to "My Pictures" then "Microsoft Clip Organizer." That's all, no further
breakdown into "My Collections" etc. like we see under clip art task
pane|organize clips.

I hope you know what I am talking about. It is not so easy to express.
However, I won't worry about being perfect here and I'm happy with the
solution.

Thanks for your guidance. Appreciate it.
