How to fix cannot preview with error in Microsoft Outlook preview

I have the new Windows Microsoft XP Professional 2002 Service pack.

I am getting attachments from people I know and I am not able to open them.
I get the following message:

This file cannot be previewed because of an error with the following previewer
Microsoft Office Outlook message and item previewer

To open this file in its own program, double click.

I can not open nor preview.

Please help, what do I need to do to get this opened?

Not sure if this will resolve your issue, but we currently had a similar
issue in our environment which has Outlook 2007 and this same thing was
occuring. Once we uninstalled the version of Google Desktop, and rebooted,
we were able to open and preview attachments again. An older version of
Google Desktop seemed to work after we re-installed.
