How to find the right discussion groups for Microsoft Support?

Does anyone know how to find the right discussion groups for Microsoft Support?
I get a following question:

My notebook's CD-ROM does not function well, and I would like to access
other PC's CD-ROM through networking. I successfully connect other PC and map
its' CD-ROM as a drive, but how to map the PC's CD-ROM as a CD-ROM not a
drive?
Does anyone have any suggestion?

..Just curious, what is the difference between mapping as a CD-ROM drive and a
network drive? The drivers for the CD-ROM drive are not stored locally, so I
would not think you could map it that way. I would check in the Operating
System's group (i.e. Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, etc.). They would
be better suited at answering your question.
