how to extract the contents of an ISO disk image file

is there a mean/utility to extract the contents of a disk image file
(*.iso) without burning it to a CD??

WinISO and PowerISO will do it. Both will edit the ISO. I find it
usefull for adding a readme.txt file to them with the CD key it in. I
make copies of all my software and of course they are in new cases and
no labels and I've got bad handwriting so 0O L1, you know the drill.
Besides, it's easier to cut and paste than type. Laaazzzyyyy, and too
techie I guess. :)

They are both about $30 USD, but I think worth it if you do a lot of
editing of ISO files. PowerISO is newer, WinISO does not look like
its been changed in years, can't find a change date so it makes me think
they are hiding that fact.
