How to enable Auto-Refresh in WindowsExplorer ?

When I insert another CD with data files on it into the CD/DVD drive I expect Windows Explorer
should refresh the displayed contents. But even if I click the menu View-Refresh it does not
recognize the new contents.

I have to close (!) Windows Explorer an to re-open it in order to let
WindowsExplorer refresh the CD drive content folder/file tree.

I assume there is somewhere a buffer which does not detect the CD change.

Is there a setting which forces Windows to read again the CD automatically?

More likely your CD drive is broken and not reporting the changed-media
status. Also, if the CD has the *same* volume ID as the prior CD, Windows
might not see it change. Does the problem continue if you insert
*commercial* CDs from totally unrelated software vendors?

Are you using Winxp??

To enable this setting, in Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu,
then Internet Options. Under the Security tab, highlight the Internet
icon, and then click the Custom Level... button below. Scroll down to
the Miscellaneous section, and look for Allow META REFRESH. Make sure
that the Enable option is highlighted.
