How to embed OpenType fonts?

R

Richard

I would like to embed Myriad, an OpenType font, which is
our corporate font into all of our PowerPoint
presentations, however I'm not having any luck. I know
that it specifies only TrueType as compatible for embedded
files, but surely there must be away around this seeing as
OpenType is the child of Adobe AND Microsoft. I shudder to
think that I will have to do all of my presentations in
Verdana. Any ideas?

Perhaps visit a site like Myfonts.com and look into Myriad alternatives
(Frutiger is one of their suggestions).

Their font search feature will tell you which fonts are available in PC-format
TrueType.

I'm afraid I am not seeing it. I see Opentype and
Postscript solutions, but as I understand it, those won't
cut it for Powerpoint.

Let me ask this: is it even possible to embed OpenType
fonts or am I wasting my time? Granted, if there was a
True Type version of the font, it wouldn't be an issue,
but it is looking more and more likely that that is not
the case.

It may indeed come to that, but since we already have
letterhead, business cards, and other collateral material
that the sales force is using all printed using Myriad,
switching to another font for what is supposed to be an
integrated and seamless facet of the presentations is
going to be a last resort.

TrueType only, I'm afraid. And then only TT fonts that are licensed for
embedding.

update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for

Hello,

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality (embed OpenType fonts that
are embeddable), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
