Hi, I want to block any porn sites to be visited from my
PC. I had set up the Content Advisor and Security Zones
but most Porn sites are still accessible.

I want to stop anyone on my PC to visit any Porn sites.
One user keeps going there and since he doesn't know a
thing about PCs, there's a bunch of stuffs that keeps
being installed on my PC or I get virus (I installed a
better anti-virus now).

It seams that if a site has no ratings or indicationg that
it's a porn site (from a computer's point of view), then
it's viewable.

I have AdAware 6.0 (Free version) but it only scans for
stuffs that were left behind from a site's visit.

What you are suggesting also checks for stuffs left
behind ?

If so, that won't prevent anyone from visiting Porn sites
on my PC.

If none of the other suggestions works, keep these users off your computer
entirely.

You can look into third party programs that filter sites based on keywords,
etc. Net Nanny is one I've heard of, but I have no personal experience with
it.

The problem with any of those filters is that for them to be effective at
filtering all the porn, they'll also block a lot of very benign sites. So,
for example, you won't be able to retrieve a recipe for roast chicken
breast. Some also filter on visual content often based on skin-tone colors.
So you might end up filtering any sites that use a sand-colored background,
while porn sites with skewed colors will come through just fine.

Bottom line is that if someone is intent on getting into those sites,
they'll find a way in despite software controls because no matter what
blocker you use, there will be some things that sneak through. While at the
same time you'll be blocking a lot of very useful stuff.

There was one service that claimed that they used humans to decide which
sites were safe. I have no idea if they're still in business or what their
filtering criteria was.

Your best bet might be to search the web and see what's out there and try a
few programs out to see if they do what you want. The only other option is
monitoring computer use and perhaps consequences when porn appears on the
computer.

the human one was kinda scary. I heard but did not confirm
that they blocked a site that told how to bypass their
filter. Big brother... Id rather have the porn.

I believe you can set it to block non-rated sites...I had
to set that up...er...for myself...due to the fact that I'm
13 and shouldn't be looking at that stuff... :p ...and it
blocked anything without a rating...REALLY annoying...

From what I understood, their plan was to block everything unless and until
they okay'd it. With the billions of sites out there, they'd be blocking a
lot of them just because they hadn't gotten around to looking at them.

Modify your host file on your computer located at C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc

http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/ explains how this process works.

I have seen hosts files that people have created specifically for adult sites. You will need to do a google search for this.
