Help - I have some family home video clips (from my
digital camera) which I'd like to share with relatives
overseas, but I cannot send them as attachments because
they're about 3,500 Kb each, and the e-mail provider
(Yahoo) has a limit of 3,000 Kb. I've tried compressing
them with a ZIP file application, but they won't compress
much lower than they already are. Does anyone know how I
can do this without involving having to purchase anything
special?

You can split the video clips into mutiple files with WinRAR, it is a
compression program similar to WinZip but its RAR archive provides a better
compression ratio than that of Zip files, you can download the shareware
version of WinRAR from http://www.rarsoft.com

Using FTP to transfer such large files would be a much better idea, Ross.

An attachment increases the total size of a email by ~40%. A 10 KB message
with a 3.5 MB attachment gives you a 4.9 MB email, which would probably put
recipient's email account over its limit and not be delivered anyway.

How about copying the clips to CDs or DVDs and then mailing them?
