how to download old items in an imap folder

I have moved my mail account from one provider to an other. Now I have setup
in Outlook the new user credentials etc. It works fine, but I would as in the
past access old mails offline. In the past all mails were stored on the
server and in addition in Outlook. So when I was travelling, I could access
my mails offline.
With the new setup this is only possible for all new mails - or mails, which
I have openend on this PC. In the folder all headers are listed, but the
content of the item is not downloaded. This is also true, after having marked
them for downloading.
What else must I do, to get Outlook to download my mails?

You must connect to your old IMAP server and open each folder so Outlook can
download all the messages.
