How to do a good restore?

Has anyone done a successful complete restore from a tape
backup to a 2000 Pro machine? I did one and got
a "Restore Successful" from my backup machine but when I
start the restored machine I get a blue screen.

The only way to reliably and fully backup a Windows NTx installation is
with a disk imaging utility. At the very least, you have to image the
system partition and boot volume, if they are different. The most
complete backup would also include images of any volumes other than the
system and boot to which applications are installed.

2 good imaging utilities are DriveImage from PowerQuest and Ghost from
Symantec.
