How to Display the Contacts List in Last Name, First Name Order

K

Keith Wilson

Try as I may I can't get my Outlook 2002 Address Book to
list the Contacts in the 'File As' order - it always gives
it in 'Name' order with First Name then Last Name.

The microsoft Article OL2002 is supposed to address this

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;319142&Product=ol2002

But I've been thro all of the instructions many times &
the Address Book does not change.

Can anyone help?

We can't tell from here. Seems to me you should be looking at what the
format of your File As is.
Also, did you restart Outlook after you changed the sort order?

I've restarted Outlook & the PC several times.
The format is of 'File As' , as displayed in contacts is
of the form:

BT - Smith, John

and the 'Full Name' is

John Smith

I want the Address Book to reflect the 'File As' listing
because then it groups all of my 'BT' contacts together.
It used to do this in Outlook 2000, but since upgrading to
Outlook 2002, and despite following OL2002, I just cannot
get the Address book to show anything other than 'Full
Name'

Apologies, it now seems fixed - not sure what I did
differently, but it suddenly displays in the right
format. I did restart the PC (rather than return from
Hibernation)!

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there
to "File As"
