How to disable auto-open CD etc.

Hi. I am new to this group. Someone may know the answer to the following.
XP insists on showing the content of a CD, ZIP disk, etc. when inserted
unless the Shift key is held down.

Can this behaviour, which irritates me intensely, be inhibited? Even; can
the action of the Shift key be inverted so that, on the rare occiasion when
I might want it, XP will show the disk?

Right on your cd drive and click on the Autoplay tab, there you will find
settings you require.

get the TweakUI powertoy, it has a section that allows you to disable
auto-play more effectively than the auto-play tab. Read this faq, it links
