How to detect Non Exchange accounts on a outlook client

Rocky

Hi,

I have bit of urgent issue here, our IT security officer would like to find
out if any of the users have configured the outlook to add the personal
(hotmail, yahoo, comcast) email accounts. Is there any way to detect this, i
was hoping that there are registry values somewhere which can show this.

Any help in this matter is much appreciated. We are running outlook 2003
with Exchange 2007 in the backend. Each user has the ability to
add/configure accounts which we plan on locking down in the future.

Thanks
Rocky

Instead of a client side check, you might be better off to check this via
your firewall logs. Check for traffic via the IMAP and POP3 protocols and
their well known ports. In addition check for outgoing SMTP traffic other
than from the corporate Exchange server.

This should provide you already with a nice overview of what's going on
without needing to make any scripts etc...

Hi Roady,

Thanks for the tip, I will talk to our Network security team to see what
they can do, however is there no way to determin this on a client?
