How to delete duplicate emails

I think I posted this before but I don't think anyone replied. Can i write a
macro or something to get rid of all these duplicate emails I have. When I
upgraded and migrated from OE, O 2003 decided to redownload all 2100 emails i
had on the server... so now there are 2 copies. And now it wants to do it
AGAIN. I cannot figure this out. I have to leave the emails on the server
cuz i use them from work. But in terms of sorting / finding mail - having
2-3 copies of each message is annoying (and takes up memory). Thanks for any
ideas. Also, do I have something wrong in the account settings?

the only program I know is Duplicate Remover by mapilab. It is a commercial
software, but they have a trial version:

Thanks Oliver. I also heard about http://www.slipstick.com/addins on the VBS
board. It's only $15 so I'll let you know how it works. The demo only lets
you do 5 at a time and I have like 5000 duplicates right now.
