how to delete an aborted instal

Hi I made a mistake when installing Xp.
I'd like to be able to repartition and format the hard drive but each time I
try and boot from the CD it doesn't give me the option and proceeds to try
and continue from where it left off with the aborted install.
Is there a way to start again? Thanks
