I need to make a backup copy of a bootable CD. I have tried Copy on
one drive and Paste ond the CD-write drive. The resulting copy is not
bootable. What do I need to do?

Thanks

Use cd cloning software ( Clone-CD, CDR-Win = shareware)
or freeware RawCDCopy for example.
Or use a drive imaging software to read CD to an iso image and then burn
using almost any burning software

.

There are several ways:
1. You can copy directly CD to CD (if you have 2 CD
drives).
2. You can make an Image file from the CD with one of the
softwares: WinISO, UltraISO, Alcohol 120%, and exc'...
and save it on harddisk.
And then copy it back to CD.
The image file can save bootable disks.

You wouldn't COPY the ISO back to a CD, that would only produce a CD
with the ISO file on it, rather you'd BURN the ISO to CD.

With a CD-RW you need to do a Disc Copy.
What CD Writing software are you using?

Uh, copying the ISO does BURN to ISO to the CDR(W), although I know
what you are trying to say.

Better to say they need to use a third party application to burn the
CD Image, represented by the ISO file, back to a CDR(W).

You will need the COPY CD section of one of the big third party
packages; or use ISORecorder from
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
to make an 'image' of the CD as a file on hard disk, and then burn it to
a blank CD

I asked your earlier, what CD Software are you using? You didn't answer.
If you are using... what comes with Windows XP, I don't think it can be
done.
If you are using CD Writing Software such as Roxio Easy Creator, Nero,
MyDVD... and so on, you can make a bootable disk.
