how to convert UK english spelling to US english with Spellcheck?

I've got Word 2003, and by setting the Language to English US, I should be
able to get all my UK English spellings flagged up with a wavy line
underneath so I can manully convert to US spelling. But it's not picking up
any of the words it should.
