office in uk english

in adv.Hi,
I have selcted settings for uk english in outlook and word, under options
and a bunch of other places yet i intentionally spelt american words such as
mom, etc but office is not highlighting theres words as incorrect spellings.
How do i get this to do this and make this UK english and nothing else and
allow no us spellings?

The American influence is growing - maybe for the better, as America cares
more about grammar and style than does the current UK education system. For
words that are contained in both American and UK English - and in this
instance Mom is one such word, add them to an Exclusion Dictionary.
Exclusion dictionary is listed in Word 2007 help, and for Word 2003 checkout
help under
'Specify a preferred spelling for a word'
