How to control Bluetooth Mouse connection dropping

I really want to use a Bluetooth mouse with my Dell Notebook X300 with
internal Bluetooth, but I can't stand the fact that when I don't use the
mouse for a few minutes, it acts as if it sleeps. I have to move the mouse
back and forth for a few seconds to get it paired again.

I didn't seem to have this problem with Bluetooth mice on my Mac.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks!

May it be that you have to press a mouse button to make the mouse work
again? Some infrared mice require this to bring them out of a
power-saving mode.
