how to close windows in internet browser

Every time i try to close an open window in my internet
searches i get a bing sound like there is another window
open. THe only way i can close windows or web sites that
i visit is by using task manager and closing it. I can not
even close my home page by clicking on the "x". Can any
one tel me what i going on and how to fix this problem?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
