How to clear cache or correct Display Name?

I'm using Outlook 2007 and suddenly having problems with the display name
when receiving emails. A person already saved in my contacts list is suddenly
changing the way it appears from the Display Name I set. It also in turn
affects my auto complete when sending emails to this person.

I deal with China for business and once emails are sent to them, I receive a
chinese version of their name back (but didn't use to). Here is an example:
RC_王俊秀 [gillian@] How do I correct this?

I've tried to clear/delete my cache by locating the .NK2 file, but there
aren't any found on my computer.

Please help!

When searching for the .NK2 file be sure to include hidden files and folders
in your search (which is not enabled by default). This file is located in a
hidden folder tree.

In 2000/XP its default location is (I believe) C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook


In Vista its default location is
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft.

Since the sender ALWAYS controls whay you'll see as the Display Name for the
sender's address, replying to such a message will always add that value into
the NK2 file.

that, but it is their name, after all.

It's there or you couldn't be using it. Open Windows Explorer and enter

%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

into the Address field. Click Go. You'll see it there. It will be named
<profile>.NK2, where <profile> is your mail profile name. You may not see the
"NK2" file extension if you have not enabled showing registered file types.

Err - that's annoying if I'm unable to change the way the name is displayed
on my end.

Regarding clearing the cache - still no luck finding the .NK2 file, even
after I tried the steps you suggested. My guess is that my computer isn't
using one. I'm within the hidden folder on my computer where all my outlook
data is saved and there is no such file with that extension or beginning with
my profile name.

I have plenty of other files: .OBI, .TMP, .DAT, .KFL, and of course the
outlook file itself (.PST). Any other suggestions? How do I enable registered
files to show?

As a clarification, the PST file is located (by default) in a different
location than the .NK2 file would be, and is located with .XML and .SRS
files (and a .dat I believe). For example on my home XP machine, the NK2
file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook, while the PST location is almost the same, but
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

I was able to locate this other file location in the path you mentioned with

Frustrating - Something so simple has become so complicated just because I
can't find this file. I figure if it was there my search tool would have

You're looking in the wrong directory. The files you describe here are in
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook on XP and
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook on Vista. That's not where I told you to
look. I said %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook.

is the state of the checkbox labeled "Suggest names while completing To, Cc,
and Bcc fields"?

I have a problem with Chinese. I have Outlook 2007 XP. I try to update this
but the Chinese update appears. I have chenged most of the other stuff(clock
etc.) to Amer English but this problem is there. How do I get the English
update for the Outlook 2007 XP? Thanks.
