Hi,

I've one .avi movie file which had 2 language tracks & 2 subtitle
tracks. I found from Windoes Media Player (10.00.00.3646) Root
menu->Tools->Options->DVD setting tab->Language setting that language
(audio) & subtitle track could be choosen. But I found changing the
choice (e.g. from English to Chinese or reverse) didn't take effect.
The .avi file was still played with 2 different language audio channels
on & subtitle still kept at English. Could someone tell what should I
do to enable switching between different audio channels & different
language tracks ?

:)

It's possible that one of the subtitles is burnt into the video, and is
not overlaid separately. That's not uncommon for DVDs in some
non-English-speaking markets.

But I could choose audio & subtitle tracks from the files if I played
them with VLC Media Player 0.8.2 by VideoLAN. So why the different
performance between these 2 players ?

I don't know. That's new information.

VLC and media player classic support multiple tracks internally, and wmp
doesn't support them, apparently.

But I found that my Media Player Classic v6.4.8.5 could only see the
English subtitle as it played the .avi file. Actually, when it played
the file, I clicked Root Menu->Play and found that subtitle menu option
was de-highlighted althought the English subtitle still showed out with
the video.

With VLC media player 0.8.2, I could easily switched between 2
available audio tracks & 2 subtile tracks available. So the 2 players
did perform differently with these tracks ?

PS: the movie file set came with 3 files, .avi, .idx, .sub. I burnt
them all under the same directory (more accurately speaking I didn't
create subdirectory) on the DVD+R disc.
