Hello all,

How is it possible to change the location of the OS C:\WINNT folder to a
different drive (say D:\) in a way that the OS keeps on functioning
properly.

Would appreciate your help.

all the best,

Rami

Hi Rami

If XP is already installed - you can't change the default location without having major Registry problems. You would have to re-install XP using SysPrep.

Right.

But, doesn't XP use Windows, not WINNT?

When you upgrade from NT 4.0 or Win2000 to XP Pro, the "C:\WINNT"
folder is maintained. Upgrading from Win9X to XP Home, "C:\WINDOWS"
is kept intact. So the answer is... it depends.

Only in practice by doing a fresh installation to that drive. The
present drive letter will be pervasive in the registry
