How to change username

Try going to the Users tab under the Control Panel. Then
the users will be there ready to change as you see fit

the easiest way is to create a new user, with the name you want, and the
copy the old profile (folder) to the new one .. you'll have to be logged
on as a third party (with admin right) to do that.

XP Pro has a copy profile facility .. in XP Home you'll have to do it
the hard way, using explorer.
