How to change User Privilages - admin to not admin ??

T

tmb

1 - XP setup 5 users when I turned it on in my new laptop... or is it 4 ?
How do I check to see what privileges each user has... admin or not admin,
etc ??

2 - How can I change user privileges?

3 - I think my main account is admin and I understand it is bad to use the
admin account all the time... Can I change another account to admin and
change mine to a high level user account once it is an admin account?

Thanks for any help - tmb

We need to know whether this is Home or Pro .. the facilities (and how
to do things) differs.

For XP Pro, you can view the user accounts in my computer, manage (or
start, run, compmgmt.msc) local users & groups. That'll list the users,
and if you click on a user it'll tell you whether that user is a member
of admin group or not.

It's no big deal to run as an admin all the time on PC that sits in your
house (IMO), but don't use the account =called= 'Administrator', since
that's your backup for fixing other accounts (until/unless you forget
what the password for that account is).

XP Home is somewhat different.
