lost admin rights

i am an idiot.

main profile (administrator) became corrupt, so I created a new profile. I
renamed the old one "corrupt" and disabled it. then to prevent the default
user from getting corrupt again, I made a second account, "admin" and changed
the "Administrator" to power users (to keep my O.C.D. father from getting
confused). In the mix of things, I forgot to give "admin" admin rights, and
now there are no users that have the rights. help! I can't create new users,
or reenable the corrupt account. can't do anything. help! is there a way do
get a new lease on an admin account without reformatting? any way to change
user permissions without an admin account?

A repair installation of the OS might set things to rights.
