How to change the default template in Word 2002

I wish to change the default template in Word 2002 from Normal.dot (a new
blank page) to my own personal letterhead. I have created my own personal
letterhead, how do I save it as the default template to open automatically
each time I open Word 2002 ?

D & J,

You create a new shortcut with a startup switch. Something like winword.exe
/tyourtemplate name.
See "Customize How Word Starts" in the Help File.

But note that this will not affect the document you get when you click on
the New button, which will still be based on Normal.dot. Whatever you do,
though, don't be tempted to replace Normal.dot or put your customizations in
it. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CustomizeNormalTemplate.htm

Or create a shortcut to the template on the desktop and start word by
double-clicking on it.

For more on the different kinds of templates and locations of templates
folders see http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm.
