How to change desktop fonts appearance

OK I made a mess with my PC but it is up and working again.

The only minor issue I have is with my desktop fonts.

Previously, they were clear, that is they had NO background color.

Now, they all have a background color. I cannot get the desktop fonts which
inform me of what the icons relate to to have a clear background. That is,
whatever option I choose from Display properties I always have a background
font color.

How do I override this minor issue?

Thanks

Gary

You will find additional options here. If I understood correctly you need to
check this option (use drop shadows for icon labels).
My Computer properties
Advanced tab
Under performance click on settings
Visual effects
Custom radio button

Hello Gary,

Checkpoints to consider:

1) Right click on desktop >> arrange icons by >> uncheck "Lock Web items on
desktop"

2) Right click on My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced tab >> Settings
under 'Performance' >> check "Use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop".
