Hallo all, I just want to use fdisk /mbr to delete GRUB from the master boot
record, but couldn't figure out how to make a startup disk to boot into
command mode. My hard Disk is in NTFS, running xp pro, and the option of
creating a startup disk seems disappeared. Anyone can help?

To create an MS-DOS startup disk:
The MS-DOS startup disk you create will allow you to boot into MS-DOS.

-- Insert a floppy disk into your computer's floppy drive.
-- Open My Computer, and then click the floppy disk drive to select it.
-- On the File menu, point to the name of the floppy drive, and then click
Format.
-- Under Format options, click Create an MS-DOS startup disk.
-- Click Start.

Important

Creating an MS-DOS startup disk erases all information on the floppy disk.

Notes

-- To open My Computer, double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
-- The MS-DOS startup disk only allows the system to boot into an MS-DOS
prompt. The disk contains no additional tools.

You can use a regular Win98 startup floppy for this. The MBR is outside
any partition as first sector of the physical disk, and will be
re-written by the Win98 one.

Or - if you do not have one to hand, Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard
Disk. Boot the XP CD and, instead of Setup, take the immediate R for
Repair. Assume any password requested is blank, and TAB over.

FixMbr
(effect exactly the same)
