How to Beat Microsoft Newsreader Filters

S

Sanders Kaufman

This is intended to be more of a bug-fix request to Microsoft, than a real
how-to for trolls.

Are you a nut-case who anonymously posts to newsgroups?
Are you so offensive that everyone puts you in their twit filter, and nobody
will respond to your posts?

There IS a way to evade the twit filters.
Simply put your email address in brackets like so: [[email protected]]
That's it. That's all you have to do an your messages will never be
filtered again.
When they try, only the email address and not the brackets get added to the
filter.
Thus, when users return to the newsgroup, their Microsoft newsreaders won't
filter out messages with that string in the email address.

Outstanding! Keep up the good work. Another way, and I think a better way,
is just to have a passel of sock puppets. It's much more fun. If somebody
plonks one of your more outspoken socks then reply to them with another of
your socks, a female sock is usually very effective in this instance, saying
something like. "I plonked him, too - what a waste of space!" and the fool
who plonked you will then reply to you with some friendly rejoinder and you
can laugh your ass off at him or her for being such a gullible fool.

That's why I'm asking Microsoft to address this issue.
Not just to fix the bracket-bug, but to enhance the twit-filters overall.
There are many ways that could keep creeps like you from polluting Usenet -
by IP address, posting path, originating NNTP server, etc.
But Microsoft has just put in this one, single, little, buggy email-based
filter.

Sorry, that won't work for my posts. I'm not stupid. Do you think I'd use
any NSP that displayed my IP address so netKKKops and net nannies like you
could flood them with bogus abuse complaints?
posting path,

My NSP allows me to path preload so that filter is way easy to defeat.
originating NNTP server,

I use around eight different NSPs so good luck on that one, Rube.

Not to worry, I won't be using that one because it's obviously morphing to
avoid killfiles which is against the AUP/TOS of most NSP's. I do have lots
of socks but they are all legal and above board. It's like doing your income
tax. It's not wrong to seek out every legitimate deduction and loophole. As
a matter of fact it's stupid not to. The same goes for sock puppets.

Just because /you/ can't figure out how to do it, doesn't mean it can't
be done, Gweggie.
